Please don't wast your and your family time to go there and be an unhappy visitor.
Nice small park. Camp sites a little close...bit not a bad place to camp.
Very clean park and spacious campsites. The bathrooms are also well maintained with plenty of hot water in the showers. The manager here has made it his personal choice to not allow golf-cart use on property. There are no signs and nothing on the internet about this rule that he pity into place on his own. We only found out about his rule when he basically scolded us for bringing a golf cart. It's a ridiculous rule and he stated he didn't want anybody doing donuts in the fields...in a GOLF CART! Makes no sense, but don't bother hauling your golf cart there.
I always love coming here. It's a great way to relax and get some fishing in. Or just take a dip in the lake. Great place to bring the family for a weekend getaway.
If you want to go with your family to have a good time or if you have any children that they are coming with you and they want to play outside, if you are thinking you will get to stay in a clean and nice place, if you want to enjoy a beautiful nature, I would not recommend oak thicket park . My friends and friends are so disappointed of this park and most definitely we will choose somewhere else to enjoy our family time that it worth of spending the time and money. I wish I could upload some pictures that I took from our recent visit so you would see how bad this place was. The worse part of this was when I point out some of these things to the management of the park and their attitude was not professional and friendly at all.
NEVER GOING BACK...!!!!!
Every year for past 5 years we have been renting the biggest cabin and going to this park with my whole family and group of friends. The cabin always had been clean , inside out. But we had the worse experience in our last recent trip to this place. I don't know what the heck happened and who is running that park now but if you go there you will see by your own eyes that this place looks dirty and disgusting. The plumbing in the kitchen was leaking the whole time of our stay.they even didn't to bother and vacuum the place from last time that they rent the cabin out. You can not sit outside or stand outside because of black and red spiders. When you look around yourself you see all the broken trees that they even didn't bother to cut and clean the environment . If you want to risk and seat outside you have to sit in dark because they even didn't put a light outside.
One start isn't even fair. This place is a mess. Water access is covered in trash and moss. Trash can floating near water front. Fishing dock is dilapidated. Hand rails are loose. Don't lean into them. Concrete sticking out of the ground. Picnic tables are rotted out. Do not bring family out here. This place is not family friendly or safe. Can't believe I had to pay $5 for this. NEVER AGAIN.
